What are Nutrition & Metabolic Disorders?
Nutrition and metabolic disorders are conditions that affect how the body obtains, absorbs, processes, stores, and uses nutrients and energy. They can involve sugar balance, fats and cholesterol, proteins and enzymes, vitamins and minerals, liver and thyroid function, digestion and absorption, bone and tissue health, and — in some cases — inherited enzyme or metabolic pathway problems. These conditions may be mild and temporary, or more persistent and long-term, depending on the person, the underlying cause, and how early support and medical care begin.
Common examples include:
- Diabetes and prediabetes — difficulty regulating blood sugar and insulin
- Metabolic syndrome and obesity — clustered risks linked to weight, blood pressure, lipids, and sugar
- Thyroid imbalances — hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism affecting energy and metabolism
- Nutrient deficiencies — such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, iron, or severe malnutrition
- Digestive absorption issues — celiac disease, lactose intolerance, or glucose-galactose malabsorption
- Liver-related metabolic strain — fatty liver (NAFLD), cirrhosis, or related concerns
- Gout and bone health concerns — uric acid imbalance, rickets, or osteoporosis
- Inherited metabolic disorders — such as PKU, Gaucher disease, Wilson’s disease, and related enzyme or storage conditions
Nutrition and metabolic disorders may be influenced by genetics, diet and nutrient intake, hormones, lifestyle, medications, chronic illness, digestive function, liver or thyroid health, or a combination of physical and environmental factors.
How Homeopathic Treatment Works?
Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine developed in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann. It is based on two key principles:
1. “Like Cures Like” (Similia Similibus Curentur)
This means a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can be used in very small amounts to help address similar symptoms in a person who is unwell.
Example: A substance that might cause fatigue or bleeding tendencies in a healthy person could, in a highly diluted homeopathic form, be selected for a patient showing a similar overall symptom picture.
2. Potentization (Extreme Dilution and Succussion)
Homeopathic remedies are prepared through a process of serial dilution (often to the point where little or none of the original substance remains) combined with vigorous shaking (succussion).
This process is believed by homeopaths to “activate” the intended properties of the substance while removing toxicity.
How It Is Thought to Work (According to Homeopathy)
Homeopathy aims to support the whole person, not just the disease. It takes into account mental, emotional, and physical symptoms.
Remedies are chosen based on a patient’s overall symptom profile, and are highly individualized.
The ultra-diluted remedy is thought to gently stimulate the body’s “vital force” or natural healing response, which homeopaths believe may help support overall well-being.
